Seconds later, a blinding pillar of white light slammed into the sea just yards away, turning the ocean into a frantic wall of steam. The shockwave rattled the Bastion to its core, snapping a supporting strut in the lower hull.
The world dissolved into fire and thunder. The enemy ship, caught in the magnetic grip, had no chance. It disintegrated against the Bastion's reinforced hull in a shower of sparks and twisted metal.
